Summer Reads

Wondering what I’m reading this summer? I’ve compiled a list of the books I plan to read right here in this blog post. My summer starts officially this Friday, the 19th of July and I’m leaving for my holiday on Saturday. I thought it would be nice, since I’ve been reading a lot lately, that I’d share the books I want to read this summer and hopefully give you some cool recommendations as well.

The first on the list is “Little Fires Everywhere” by Celeste Ng. I’ve already started with this book and so far, it’s great and living up to the hype.

Secondly, “City of Girls” by Elizabeth Gilbert. This just came out a few months ago and I got my copy a few weeks ago. I’m excited to read it!

Third, “An Absolutely Remarkable Thing” by Hank Green. I’ve read all of John Green’s books and I recently found out that his brother Hank also brought one out last year. So, I went to my favorite bookstore and immediately picked it up.

Fourth, “Searching for Sylvie Lee” by Jean Kwok. I read “Girl in Translation” for school last year and I absolutely adored that book. Finding out, she wrote a second book that came out in June, I was hooked.

Fifth, “On the Road” by Jack Kerouac. This seems to be a classic and many people have read it so I will too this summer!

Sixth, “Six of Crows” by Leigh Bardugo. I’ve been following booktubers recently and they’ve all talked about this book a lot. I have never purchased a fantasy novel so I’m excited. If this is as good as they say, I’ll be sure to pick up the second book in this duology.

Seventh, “Normal People” by Sally Rooney. I’ve heard such good buzz around this book, I had to pick it up and I will read it this summer.

Eighth, “Girl in Pieces” by Kathleen Glasgow. This is also a recommendation by one of the booktubers. I was intrigued by the story and I’m super excited to get to it.

Ninth, “Sadie” by Courtney Summers. Once again a recommendation by one of the booktubers I follow. It’s intriguing and it’s got an epic cover.

Tenth, “Red, White & Royal Blue” by Casey McQuiston. Another recommendation ;) I’m excited about this one in particular because it has LGBTQ+ characters in it and who doesn’t love that?

I’ve got about seven weeks to finish this list. I actually want to read more than this amount but ten books seem kind of doable. If I can squeeze it in, I’ll read “The Book Thief” by Mark Zusak as well.

As for recommendations, I recently read Harry Potter for the first time and I highly recommend you start reading that if you haven’t. I’ll have more once I get to reading and no sleeping.

Maybe consider adding one of these books to your list as well and get your reading on!
